Spoonbender Press has been officially operating since
late 2006, although it has been in the making since 2004,
with the first issue of our first publication, bending
spoons: a literary collection.
Like many publishing companies, Spoonbender Press
has a specific literary focus. Our writers dabble in the
occult, supernatural, paranormal, macabre and purely
unusual. We operate under the umbrella of speculative
fiction, warmly embracing works of science fiction,
fantasy, dark fantasy and horror.

We have applied the following definition to the term "speculative fiction," hoping
that a definition will help guide writers to what we seek:
speculative fiction - noun - works of fiction that challenge contemporary
understanding. Works of fiction that, through the use of ordinary characters in
extraordinary situations, lead readers to question all that they believe to be real and
true.
